Entertaining skits, over-the-top production numbers and outrageous performances are the hallmarks of Civic Theatres inspired production of "Monty Pythons Spamalot" through May 22 at the 19th Street Theater in Allentown.

The craziness is non-stop as King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table go on a quest for the Holy Grail during which they encounter such absurdities as taunting Frenchmen, flying cows, a killer rabbit and a Las Vegas-esque Camelot.

Dan Becker is humorously earnest as King Arthur who is eager to make his mark as the British ruler by completing a holy quest. SpamalotCivic

As Arthurs servant Patsy, Ben Youngerman is perfect as the kings nebbish of a sidekick who displays an astonishing sense of rhythm with the coconuts that he uses to represent the hoof beats of Arthurs horse (as well as Arthurs dance steps in an unlikely dance-off).

George Hrab is hilarious as the homicidal Sir Lancelot who comes spectacularly out of the closet. His look of shock as he finds himself in a sparkly codpiece is priceless.

Mason McGowan does an inspired transformation as an activist mud farmer who turns into into the dashing Sir Galahad after an encounter with the Lady of the Lake.

Doug Ace is hysterical as the not-so-brave Sir Robin, who would prefer to be singing and dancing and Shaun Hayes is amusing as the inept Sir Bedevere.

Rowan Huggins is every bit the diva as the Lady of the Lake, with tons of attitude and stratospheric riffs on her songs including "The Song That Goes Like This," "What Ever Happened to My Part'" and "Find Your Grail."

Patrick Mertz opens the show as a salty narrator/historian but really shines as the singing and dancing not-quite-corpse in the rollicking number "I Am Not Dead Yet." Mertz also is comical as the effeminate Prince Herbert, who is locked in a tower and rescued by a confused Lancelot.

Truly an ensemble show, some of the most memorable moments are the all-out production numbers "Knights of the Round Table," "Fisch Schlapping Song," Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," "You Wont Succeed on Broadway" and "His Name is Lancelot."

Ava Bianchi, Madeline de la Parra, Kaela Frankenfield, Zoli Heft, Kimberly Mertz and Grace Nybergz as the Laker Girls contribute greatly to many of the songs with high energy dancing and outrageous (and skimpy) outfits.

Adding greatly to the proceedings are Marie Ann Sutera, John Corl, Calen Hankee, Mark Ingram, Sam Levisay, Dylan D. Miller, Paul Reed, Kevin Rizzo, Nate Rosario and Sydney Sniekek who portray everything from head banging monks to every French stereotype imaginable.

And there are lots of in-joke about other Broadway shows like "Man of La Mancha," "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Les Miserables."

Director Will Morris skillfully holds all the chaos together in one spectacularly funny package.

Kudos to Deena Lin for eye-catching choreography and Nick Conti for smooth musical direction.
