Belvidere, New Jersey - Country Gate Players is excited to announce its upcoming production of "Sylvia," a play by A.R. Gurney.
The show will run from April 22-30, 2023, at the Country Gate Playhouse, located at 114 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, New Jersey, and promises to be a delightful and entertaining evening for theatergoers.
"Sylvia" tells the story of Greg, a man in the midst of a midlife crisis, who finds himself enamored with Sylvia, a stray dog he brings home from the park. Sylvia becomes a bone of contention between Greg and his wife, Kate, leading to a hilarious and heartwarming exploration of the bonds between humans and their pets.
"We are thrilled to bring this beloved play to our stage," said Gina Scurato, Artistic Director of Country Gate Players.
"A.R. Gurney's witty and insightful script is a joy to perform, and we have assembled a talented cast of actors who bring these characters to life in a way that is both touching and hilarious."
The production will feature Dan Mazelis, of Phillipsburg, JoAnn Mazza, of Stroudsburg, and Cailla Minerowicz, of Califon, in the roles of Greg, Kate, and Sylvia, respectively. Cindi Halkola, of Belvidere, is featured in the multiple supporting roles of Tom, Phylis, and Leslie.
As part of this production, Country Gate is partnering with RiverView Rescue, of Belvidere, to raise awareness of canine rescue, fostering and adoption .Representatives of
RiverView will be at every performance of "Sylvia", displaying photographs of their current rescue dogs and accepting donations.
