Crowded Kitchen Players present

'Pints, Pounds, and Pilgrims'

an original farce by Ara Barlieb

SHOWCrowded Kitchen Players will present the comedy "Pints, Pounds & Pilgrims", an original play by playwright Ara Barlieb

BACKGROUNDThe play is inspired by a trip made by Theatre Outlet in September 2000 to the Island of Inishbofin off the coast of Connemara, County Galway, Republic of Ireland to stage an original Irish tragedy, 'Crackskull Row', by Irish born playwright Honor Molloy and starring her mother Yvonne Voight Molloy.Ara Barlieb and Pamela Wallace were Theatre Outlet board members who made a television documentary, entitled 'Pints, Pounds, and Pilgrims' of the voyage and adventure. The documentary aired on Irish and American television and will play in the IceHouse lobby before the show and at intermission. When Ara and Pamela were guests of Theatre Outlet managing and artistic directors Kate Scuffle and George Miller on their WDIY radio program last spring, the four of them reminisced about that Irish adventure to the point that they decided Crowded Kitchen Players would create a farce inspired by the experience.Once the play took shape, they vetted it with Kate and George, who now run Selkie Theatre, to assure them it wasn't going to be a sendup of the actual voyage.
