CATASAUQUA, PA - Narçisse Theatre Company is proud to announce the first production of its 2016-2017 season: "The Itch of Gloria Fitch", an original play by playwright and Harrisburg native Paul Hood and directed by F. L. Henley Jr. The Itch of Gloria Fitch will be performed on November 12 ,at 730 p.m. and November 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Unicorn Theatre at 417 Front St, Catasauqua, PA
The Itch of Gloria Fitch is an original absurdist play about modern love from the mind of Paul Hood that examines the mysteries of love when Gloria Fitch is overcome by a mysterious skin ailment. As Gloria struggles to find answers to what ails her, she discovers the "Itch" is more than what it seems.
Playwright, Author and former online film critic Paul Hood is a 1992 graduate of Harrisburg High School where he also enrolled at the Harrisburg Arts Magnet school; (now known as Capital Area School for the Arts) while there he studied television production and soon developed an interest in writing. At the age 22 Hood published his first short story entitled 'Rider in Rearview' in the motorcycle enthusiast quarterly, Long Riders Magazine. Soon afterward he published several others, such as: The Wilting of Her [Skive Magazine] They Were There: a Foolish Revolution [Coffee Cramp Magazine] to name a few.
After years of writing and developing his own distinct voice Hood studied creative writing at Wilkes University of Pennsylvania. Known mostly for his insightful film analysis and lectures on cinema, in which he has lectured at Central Penn College and Harrisburg University and Capital Area School for the Arts, he has established himself as one of the most prolific playwrights in Central PA, along with directing, and producing numerous plays with one of his earlier works (Aldous Remembers) being published in 2012, a best seller and editor's choice award winner with London based publisher 'Off the Wall Plays.'
