William Mutimer, artistic producing director for Northampton Community College's Summer Theatre program, has announced its next production, Jeffrey, that opens for a two-week run on Wednesday, June 15. This show is NCC Summer Theatre's contribution to PRIDE Month.

Jeffrey was written by Paul Rudnick, also known for writing the screenplays for Sister Act, Addams Family Values, and In & Out.

In this charming and humorous tale, a gay man living in New York, Jeffrey, decides to stop his sex-hungry ways and become celibate. However, right afterwards, he ends up falling in love with the perfect guy, Steve, at the gym. But not only has Jeffrey just pledged celibacy, Steve is HIV-positive. He seeks advice from his happily married friends Sterling and Darius, along with several other citizens of NYC, and ends up realizing the importance of love.jeffrey

Jeffrey's cast includes Danny Rowe as Jeffrey; David Lippincott as Steve; Jarrod Yuskauskas as Sterling; Michael Mottram as Darius; Madeline Gambon as Woman; Jadon Lopez as Man 1; Harrison Sakai as Man 2; and Nathan Angelo as Man 3.

The play is directed by Bill Mutimer, Artistic Producing Director of NCC's Summer Theatre program. This professional company began in the summer of 2017, offering an affordable option to local audiences that features performances by a company of professional actors and local performers. The local performers “ many of high school- and college age “ learn from the professionals, and all have the opportunity to network with peers. The program did not run in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. The show opens on Wednesday, June 15 with a 7:30 p.m. performance followed by an opening night reception. It continues on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, June 19 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, June 22 - Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 26 at 2 p.m.

The shows will be offered in the Norman Roberts Lab Theatre located at NCC's main campus in Kopecek Hall, 3835 Green Pond Rd., Bethlehem.
