The second season of Northampton Community College’s Summer Theatre program continues with How I Became a Pirate, a musical based on the popular children's book, opening on Wednesday, July 11.

How I Became a Pirate will run through Saturday, Aug. 4 in NCC's Lab Theatre at its main campus, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem.

Based on Melissa Long and David Shannon's book, How I Became a Pirate tells the tale of a band of comical pirates who land at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew.

Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob, as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure.

Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures one can't find on any map.

The cast includes members of NCC's Summer Theatre company, comprised of local actors and professional performers from across the country, and introduces audiences to two young actors, Hollis Moore of Allentown and Charles Potter of Easton, each playing the role of Jeremy Jacob.

The show is diected by Clair M. Freeman, with musical direction by Katherine Kaiser and choreography by Tabatha Robinson-Scott.

NCC's season concludes with the Tony-winning musical Dreamgirls, the story of a female vocal trio a la The Supremes, running from July 25-Aug. 5.###
