For 36 years, the Shawnee Playhouse has been offering theatre in a variety of forms to the local community and vacationers enjoying the Pocono Mountains.

Their Fall Preview Release:

Most often, people who are away from home and looking for something to do come to see a show and often see more than one.

Yet time and time again the staff at the playhouse hears, "I live in the area, but I have never come to a show!"

The Shawnee Playhouse offers year round theatre with something for everyone, including drama, comedy, musicals, special events and childrens shows, and we are hoping our local residents will come and give us a try, and then come back with family and friends!

In the fall, starting in late August, the Shawnee Playhouse will offer a musical for pre- teens to adult, a drama more suited for adults and a comedy. Please see below for more information.

God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza translated by Christopher Hampton

Running September 5 through September 14

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage relates an evening in the lives of two couples, residents of a Brooklyn neighborhood, who meet to discuss a playground incident. The four of them agree to discuss the event civilly, but as the night wears on and drinks are imbibed, the polite veneer breaks down. The couples initially spar against each other, the men gang up on the women and the spouses switch sides as the fighting continues. Rezas play suggests that our civilized trappings do a poor job of hiding our venality and bile.
