The Heavenly Musical Hit!
Allentown, Pa. – The Pines Dinner Theatre, 448 N 17th St, Allentown, will be presenting Church Basement Ladies March 31 through May 14, 2017.
The Pines continues its 2017 season by celebrating the church basement kitchen and the women who work there. Church Basement Ladies takes us to the church basement kitchen of East Cornucopia Lutheran Church of the Prairie in Cornucopia, Minnesota.
From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be learning the proper order of things, Church Basement Ladies give a touching, funny look at their lives as they handle a record breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a Hawaiian Easter Fundraiser, and a steaming hot July wedding. They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on due course while thoroughly enjoying (and tolerating) each other. 
This funny and down to earth show will delight our guests as they see the Church year unfold from below the House of God. This deliciously funny musical comedy stars the talents of Dan Baker as "Pastor Gunderson," Karisa Hope Fulmer as "Signe," Natasha Ricketts as "Karin," Lori Ann Sword as "Mavis," and Stacy Bechtel as "Vivian." Church Basement Ladies which is based off of the best-selling book "Growing Up Lutheran" is written by Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson, with words and music by Drew Jansen.
But the show is only the second half of the guest's entertainment. Act I features the food at the Pines Dinner Theatre. Our guests will have the choice of Pan Seared Herb Glazed Pork Loin, Homestyle Pot Roast or Striped Pangasius each served with seasonal vegetable and smashed potatoes, or Mushroom Ravioli in a garlic butter sauce or Fettuccine Alfredo with steamed broccoli. All entrees include a garden salad, fresh baked bread, family style apple crisp and ice cream, as well as iced-tea, coffee or hot tea. Patrons also have the opportunity to purchase specialty drinks before the show and at intermission.
The Pines Dinner Theatre has been nationally recognized numerous times for its productions, dinner, and ambience. Recently the Pines has been listed as one of "America's Top 10 Unmissable Dinner Theatres" by theculturetrip.com and also as one of the "Top 16 Theatre Choices for 2015" by Leisure Group Travel, a national group travel magazine.
Church Basement Ladies plays at the Pines Dinner Theatre March 31 through May 17, 2017. Evening performances (6:30 p.m. dinner, 8:00 p.m. show) are Friday and Saturday, afternoon performances (12:30 p.m. dinner, 2:00 p.m. show) are Thursdays, Sundays and select Wednesdays. Ticket prices are $50 for adults, $49 for seniors (60+), $35.00 for Students (10-16) and $20.00 for children ages 2-9. Ticket prices include dinner, beverages during dinner, the show, and tax. Gratuity is not included.
