Coffee has gone extinct, angels are at war, and there are federally funded Torture Centers for those who go over their credit card limit.

Every indication is that the world could be coming to an end, but what you don’t know can’t hurt you, right'

Join Emerge Theatre Company on Aug 24th, 25th, and 26th, for the fiercely absurd “Marisol”.

26 year old Marisol Perez, a young and driven copyright editor from the Bronx, New York, is determined to carry on business as usual in the face of “pre- millennial jitters” like the moon disappearing and Guardian Angels dropping their wings of peace.

"Marisol is, like me, a consummate assimilationist," says prolific Latino playwright Jose Rívera,

"I live with a constant sense of melancholy for what I have denied.”

In his courageously metaphorical “Marisol”, Rívera creates an eerily familiar alternate universe where apathy, fear of failure, and dread of the unknown run rampant.

These challenging motifs collide with Rívera’s disarming sense of humor to create an empowering tale of reclaiming identity and harvesting the power that comes from being uniquely you.marisol poster

Emerge Theatre Co’s debuted with a late-night, site specific performance experiment inspired by Jean Genet’s classic “The Maids". This intimate and avant-garde performance served as a “taste-test” for their diverse, multi-sensory, ensemble driven work.

Directed by Torez Mosley, with Assistant Direction by Shaun Leisher, this production is designed to be a jolt to the senses.

Through shocking imagery, an electrifying soundscape, and a surreal set design, this directorial team is crushing the boundaries of traditional theatre.

This production features performers Abi Ariza, Patti Squire, Deirdre Van Walters, Tatiana Torres, and Joseph Ferraro.

This diverse 5-person cast works together to build a world that is strikingly beautiful, absurd, and bold.

Performances will be held at Touchstone Theatre on Friday August 24 at 7:30pm, August 25th at 7:30pm, and August 26th at 3:00pm.

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at emergetheatreco.ticketleap.com

Seating is limited. Reservations are highly recommended.
