Crowded Kitchen Players is returning to Allentown in October with its original adaptation, The Brothers Tortellini" A Toga Comedy.

The play will run three weekends at Zions Reformed UCC beginning October 10, 2014.

TheBrothersTortellini thumbThe Brothers Tortellini: A Toga Comedy, is based on the classic Roman farce The Brothers Menaechmi', by Plautus, which was the source for Shakespeares "A Comedy of Errors", Richard Rodgers "The Boys From Syracuse", and Larry Gelbarts "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".

Years after his twin brother Tortellinus (pronounced Tortell-ee-nus) was abducted by a human trafficker and sold abroad, Tortellinus (pronounced Tortell-eye-nus) sets out across the Mediterranean hoping to learn of his brothers fate.

When destiny brings them to the same island and the same town on the same day, a tsunami of mistaken identity, gluttony, and greed threatens to prevent them from ever being reunited.

The Brothers Tortellini is a fast-paced farce in the tradition of Crowded Kitchen Players fifty-nine productions over the past fifteen years at Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, The Ice House and Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem, Theatre Outlet and Luther Crest in Allentown, and McCooles in Quakertown.

The Tortellini twins are played by the physically mismatched David Fox (Tortell-eye-nus) of Quakertown and CKP founding member Tom Harrison (Tortell-ee-nus) of Allentown.

David "Oz" Oswald plays the avaricious merchant Calamari. Todd Carpien plays Gelato the Parasite; Pamela Wallace, his wife Insatia; Sharon Ferry, Frittata, the wife of Tortell-ee-nus; Lauri Beth Rogers, the courtesan Putanesca; Libby Ross, Pancetta, the courtesans apprentice; Elizabeth Gaynor, Marsala, servant girl to Tortell-eye-nus; Michael Thew, Frutti de Mare, the courtesans cook; and Carla Thew, Osso Buco, the bone doctor.
