Third Mask Theatre Company will present the musical thriller, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,at Northeast Middle School's auditorium, 1170 Fernwood St., Bethlehem. Show times are 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Sweeney Todd opened on Broadway in 1979 and tells the story of Benjamin Barker, alias "Sweeney Todd", who returns to London after 15 years' incarceration on trumped-up charges, to take revenge on the judge who banished him. Todd

The show, with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, won a Tony award for Best Musical.

Third Mask was organized in 2011 by two Freedom High School students who were involved in the school's FREDDY award-winning musical theatre program. Nicholas Conti and Jonathan Hoffman gathered like-minded friends and classmates to stage annual productions including Waiting for Godot; Assassins; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and Seussical! Conti continues to serve Third Mask as its Artistic Director.

The cast includes adults, and students in college, high school and middle school, with 12 local schools represented. Many FREDDY award-nominated students are in the cast, and most company members have participated in a FREDDY-nominated or winning production while in high school.
