The following is an audition notice for Town and Country Players' production of 'THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, book and lyrics by Nan Knighton with music by Frank Wildhorn, directed by Mariel Rosati, produced by Victoria Schultheis, musical direction by Stephanie Overton-Hall, and choreography by Katie Skelly.
Auditions will be held at the Central Bucks Senior Center, 700 Shady Retreat Road, Doylestown, PA
Dates & Times:
Saturday, January 4 from 12:00-3:00pm
Sunday, January 5 from 2:00-5:00pm
Call backs for certain parts on Monday, January 6 from 7:00-10:00pm
Performances will be April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8pm and April 6 and 13 at 3pm at Town and Country Players Theatre. Two evening benefit performances are currently on the schedule for Tuesday, April 8th and Wednesday, April 16. Rehearsals will start in mid January and are expected to be 3 to 4 nights a week, increasing and the show dates approach.
Preparation: Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song from a show of similar style, as well as one of the prescribed monologues available for download at tandcpimpernel.blogspot.com. Memorization of the monologues is strongly encouraged. You will need to provide sheet music. An accompanist will be present. No a cappella or tape recordings may be used. Please come prepared for a dance audition to follow the vocal and acting audition. Walk-ins are welcome, however a scheduled audition is appreciated. Ages 18+ only need apply. Percy Blakeney (Grappin and The Scarlet Pimpernel) (Late 20s to mid 30s.)

As the Scarlet Pimpernel, Sir Percy Blakeney is a master of disguise, taking on multiple personae to help save doomed aristocrats from the guillotine in France. His strong, courageous side we see when he consults with the league and plans daring escapes, but his most dominant disguise “ the one he uses to put everyone off the scent “ is that of the foolish, foppist nitwit, obsessed with mens fashion and little else. As one of his disguises, Sir Percy also assumes the role of Grappin, Belgian aid to Chauvelin. Sir Percy Blakeney is character actor meets leading man.
Marguerite St. Just (late 20s early 30s)

Beautiful, magnetic and charming French actress married to Sir Percy Blakeney. Whilst spurning the blackmail-tainted advances of her former lover, Chauvelin, Marguerite struggles to understand why her husband treats her differently after their marriage. French accent required.
Chauvelin (late 20s early 30s)

Chauvelin is the suave, fox-like villain of the show, determined to discover the true identity of the Scarlet Pimpernel and to send him to the guillotine. Assistant to Robespierre, he is instrumental in doling out punishment to the very aristocrats Sir Percy is attempting to save. Also in love with Marguerite, he uses persuasion and blackmail to ensnare her into spying on his behalf.

Historically the son of George the III, the Prince of Wales is a friend of Sir Percy and calls him to his palace to inquire after Percys frequent and inexplicable visits to France. Also a foppish character.

A marquis whom Marguerite inadvertently sends to his death towards the top of the show. Has solo lines in "Madame Guillotine" number.

Leader of the Revolution in France to whom Chauvelin reports.
