Crowded Kitchen Players will hold auditions for its production of a new play, 'A Softening of the Eyes" by Ara Barlieb.
The play depicts the criminal trial of a charismatic black man accused of kidnapping and rape, and his desperate attempt to tell his version of the story after a dramatic jailhouse escape.
Fifteen men and women, ages 21 and up, are needed.
Cold readings from the script, individually and in groups.
Auditions will be held April 10-11 at 700PM in the Kitchen, 1680 Minesite Road, Allentown, PA.
The play will be performed June 9 through 18, 2018 at The Icehouse, Bethlehem, PA.
Additional show dates are under consideration.
"A Softening of the Eyes" will be CKP's second play premier already this year, continuing their tradition of performing original narrative theater.
It will also be their second production in a performing arts series it helped to create, 'Voices of Conscience', which since 2015 has sought to create conversation and awareness on issues of race and equality.
