Crowded Kitchen Players announces auditions for “The Beauty Boys”, a life-transforming visit to an other-worldly salon where beauty and truth are inseparably partnered.
The play is a lively and uplifting stage adaptation of a much heralded screenplay from the 1990s, written by regional filmmaker Vincent Mondillo and now being produced by Crowded Kitchen Players.
“The Beauty Boys” features 18 roles for actors of ages 21 years-and-older.
The first auditions will be cold readings from the script Monday July 8 and Wednesday July 10 at 700PM in The Kitchen at 1680 Minesite Road, Allentown, PA 18103.
“The Beauty Boys” will be presented over three weekends in October at The Ice House in Bethlehem, Crowded Kitchen Players’ theatrical home since 2015.
“The Beauty Boys” unrealized film production garnered significant regional and national attention after Academy Award-winner, Jack Palance, who lived just outside Hazleton, Pa, agreed to play the leading role. After Palance abruptly passed away, the film project lost momentum and was scrapped.
The script gathered over two decades of dust until its possible adaptation to the stage was discussed when Mondillo filmed segments for Crowded Kitchen’s critically acclaimed Ice House Tonight production of “All You Need to Know”, a play that examined how precious public funding earmarked for the Arts community is often squandered on beer festivals, county fairs, flashy awards ceremonies, and other politically “safe” cultural events.
“The Beauty Boys” will be Crowded Kitchen Players 104th full-length theatrical production since the year 2000.
