Between the Lines Studio Theatre is thrilled to announce its premiere production for the 2018 season, “The Glass Menagerie,” written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Kathy Patterson and Rachel Williams.

The play features Trish Cipoletti as Amanda Wingfield, Eric D. Hersh as Tom Wingfield, Jennifer Santos as Laura Wingfield, and Neil Grover as Jim O’Connor (The Gentleman Caller).

“The Glass Menagerie” is the heartbreaking and sometimes humorous story of one family’s struggle to survive in 1930’s St. Louis.

Amanda, the matriarch of the family, is a faded, tragic remnant of Southern gentility. She lives in poverty in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son, Tom, and her daughter Laura.

Although Amanda loves her children, her methods of trying to give meaning and direction to their lives are ineffective and irritating.$0

The crux of the action comes when Tom invites a coworker to dinner with the family. Jim, the caller, is a nice, ordinary fellow who inadvertently shines a light on the Wingfields’ darker corners.

A drama of great tenderness, charm, and beauty, “The Glass Menagerie” is one of the most famous plays in modern theatre history.

“The Glass Menagerie” opens on Friday, March 2nd at 7:30pm and is hosted by Touchstone Theatre, 321 E. 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.

Five additional performances will follow: Saturday March 3rd at 7:30 pm; Sunday March 4th at 3 pm; Friday March 9th at 7:30 pm; Saturday March 10th at 7:30 pm; and the final performance Sunday March 11th at 3:00 pm.
