The season kicks off with ELECTION 2012 featuring PRESSING THE FLESH, written and directed by Cedar Crest College Associate Professor of Theatre, Tim Brown. This humorous look at politics and voting will help you get ready for the 2012 Presidential election! The play will be performed in Samuels Theatre on September 27, 28 & 29 at 8 p.m. and September 30 at 2 p.m. There will be a talk back with the director and cast on Sunday, Sept. 30 following the performance. SILENT HEROES, written by Linda Escalera Price and directed by Cedar Crest College Associate Professor of Theatre Marion McCorry, tells the story of five women, all wives of Marine Corps pilots, who gather to wait for news of a fatal crash. Set in 1975, the women wait to see whose life will be forever altered by this event. The play will be performed in Samuels Theatre on November 1, 2 & 3 at 8 p.m. and November 4 at 2 p.m. There will be a talk back with the director and cast on Sunday, Nov. 4 following the performance. STUDENT DANCEWORKS will feature contemporary works by student choreographers. Artistic Direction is by Cedar Crest College Assistant Professor and Director of Dance, Robin Gerchman. Performance dates are November 29, 30 & December 1 at 8 p.m. There will be a talk back with the choreographers following the Saturday, Dec. 1 performance. 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL, music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, book by Patricia Resnick, directed by Tim Brown, is the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn theres nothing they cant do “ even in a mans world! Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is about teaming up, taking care of business, getting credit and getting even! Performance dates are February 21, 22 & 23 at 8 p.m. and February 24 at 2 p.m. There will be a talk back with the cast and crew following the Sunday, Feb. 24 performance. ABOUT FACE, written by Cedar Crest College Professor of Theatre and Chair of the Department of Performing Arts, Roxanne Amico, will be performed in area middle schools again this season. Following last years successful tour, this play on cyber bullying with a group discussion following the performance, is available at no cost to the schools. Performances will take place in April 2013. SPRING DANCES will present new works choreographed by Cedar Crest College faculty members. Dance styles include ballet, jazz, tap and modern. Artistic Direction is by Robin Gerchman. Performances are April 18, 19 & 20 at 8 p.m. There will be a talk back with the choreographers following the Saturday, April 20 performance. Tickets purchased in advance cost $18 for adults; $13 for senior citizens; and $7 for students with I.D. and children. Tickets at the door are $22 for adults; $18 for senior citizens; and $10 for students with I.D. and children.
