'Dancing at Lughnasa' will be performed from March 8 through March 17th at the Shawnee Playhouse.
'Dancing at Lughnasa' (pronounced: loon-uh-suh) is set August, 1936, rural Ireland, in the kitchen of the five fiercely proud Mundy sisters, a place for talking, laughing, and lively dancing”moments that defy the hardships of their daily life. Their brother, a missionary, has just returned from Uganda, and the sisters find themselves each on the brink of momentous change.
A press release promises that "Friel's Tony-Award-winning play captures a beautiful and exuberant sliver of these women's lives, a summer where love”and everything else”seemed possible."
A film version starred Two time academy award winner Meryl Streep.
Featured cast include Gillian Geraghty, Patrick Bresnyan, Sara Ferguson, Sarah McCarroll, Elizabeth McDonald, Scott E. McIntosh, Katherine Neville and Aaron Pappalardo.
The show is directed and stage managed by Juliet Dunham.
Performances will be 2:00 pm March 8, 10, 15 and 17, and 8:00 pm March 8, 9, 15 and 16.
