When Rob Adams decided to make his own theatre company in 1995, he wanted to present new children's productions to his audience.
'Fruitcakes', soon to open at Pennsylvania Playhouseon Illick's Mill in Bethlehem, was one of those plays that was selected.
'Fruitcakes' is the perfect story for the holiday season, and so Rob is now directing it as the Pa Playhouse's holiday production.
Mix together a batch of special fruitcakes, 10,000 outdoor Christmas lights, a chicken pox epidemic, 2 southern spinsters, an angel on roller skates, an estranged old man, a lost cat named "Tutti-Frutti" and a Christmas hog named "Buster," and you've got a recipe for a fun filled and touching evening filled with holiday cheer.
Into this world comes a kid who has run away from home and comes as far as his money will take him. At first he thinks this town's inhabitants are "nuttier than FRUITCAKES", but soon comes to admire, appreciate and adore this nutty little town.
As Rob has said "I hope you enjoy this heart touching story as much as i do, and that it provides you with a heaping helping of holiday warmth and Christmas cheer
