William Mutimer, head of the Northampton Community College's Theatre Department, has announced the college's next production of Xanadu: The Musical, premiering April 21.
The performances are scheduled for Thursday, April 21 “ Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m. Each onstage, fully-staged performance will be performed live, in person, in NCC's Lipkin Theatre. NCC's campus is located at 3835 Green Pond Rd., Bethlehem.
Mutimer is directing this production, which features songs by the 70s-80s rock group Electric Light Orchestra.
The show is described as "a hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you, [that] rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends, Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) and John Farrar (producer for Olivia Newton-John)." It is based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Newton-John, Michael Beck and Gene Kelly.
Tickets are free for anyone with a valid NCC ID and the donation of a non-perishable food item; all others are $5. Details are at ncctix.org/xanadu.
Lucille Kincaid (music director), Tina Williams (choreographer) and Brett Oliveira (tech director) join Mutimer on the creative team.
