The Pennsylvania Playhouse presents the comedy “The Obituary I'm Dying To Write” opening Thursday, May 3rd and running only through Sunday, May 6th.
Eight elderly residents of the county nursing home for the indigent discuss the drafting of their obituaries.
Should the notices of their approaching deaths contain the same useless platitudes as are so often found in the newspapers'
Perhaps these senior citizens might distinguish themselves by drafting their own individual obituaries with a focus upon a particular achievement or life-altering Epiphany never before divulged.
The audience becomes privy to some of these unique moments, after which the elderly residents share a reading of their final words on earth
The play is written by local playwright Lawrence B. Fox and directed by Brian McDermott.
The cast includes: Gary Boyer, Susan Burnett, Colleen Capponi, Kristin Cichowski, John Corl, Billy Ehrlacher, Brian Keller, Meagan Kuchan, John Moss, Jeanie Olah, Marcy Repp, Todd Rizzuto, and Robert Torres.
Steven Rosenblum is stage manager with set and lighting by Brett Oliveira and costumes by Todd Burkel.
Performances are Thursday through Sunday, May 3rd to 6th at 7:30 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens.
