"Waiting for Godot" will be presented Thursday, Nov. 21 - Saturday, Nov. 23 and Monday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. in NCC's Norman Roberts Lab Theatre, at its main campus, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem.
Chris Egging, adjunct theatre faculty member, directs NCC’s version with an all-female cast.
Two dilapidated bums fill their days as painlessly as they can.
They wait for Godot, a personage who will explain their interminable insignificance, or put an end to it.
They are resourceful, with quarrels and their dependence on each other, as children are. They pass the time 'which would have passed anyway.'
A brutal person of means comes by, leading a weakling slave who does her bidding like a mechanical doll.
Later on she comes back, blind, and her slave is mute, but the relationship is unchanged. Every day a child comes from the unknown Godot, and evasively puts the big arrival off until tomorrow.
The cast includes Sarah Thatcher as Estragon, Torez Mosley as Vladimir, Daniya Beard as Pozzo, Ciara Purcell as Lucky, and Sadie Reese as A Boy.
Due to mature themes, it is appropriate for middle school and older.
There is no admission charge for those with a current NCC ID who make a donation of a non-perishable food item to NCC's H.O.P.E. Food Bank. No reservation is needed; come to the door or call the Box Office at 484-484-3412 to get on the seating list.
