"Its a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play," will be the 2014 holiday show at Pennsylvania Playhouse.
The show presents the well known story in a format that has rarely been seen before.
The Playhouse transforms into a 1940s style radio station. It is Christmas Eve in 1946 and WBFR: The Playhouse of the Sky will be performing their rendition of "Its a Wonderful Life."
The stage has been transformed into an almost exact replica of a 1940s radio station by the set and lighting designer Brett Oliveira. The costumes by Caitlin Connolly will strive to continue the wonderful illusion.
The show offers an opportunity to see the past come to life as the ten actors portray over 50 characters.
The cast is made up of Brian Welsko, Veronica Bocian, and Harold Minor who provide the voices of George, Mary, and Clarence respectively.
Also in the cast are Mark Boyer, Paul Rossi, Seth Rohrbach, Kate Egging.
Sydney Stauffer and Jonathan Kerbein will be working the sound effects table and providing several voices as well.
The show written by Joe Landry is under the direction of first time Pennsylvania Playhouse director Zane Bachert.
Its a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, will run December 5 through December 21 at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $22, $19 for students and seniors (except Saturdays).
