The creators of the Broadway smash hit The Producers are back with another monster musical comedy, and this time they’re bringing the hilarious, scientifically proven, and monstrously good time of Young Frankenstein to Pennsylvania Playhouse!

We are delighted to present this wickedly inspired stage adaptation of Mel Brooks' classic horror film parody from Oct 10 to Oct. 26 at the Playhouse on Illicks Mill Road (Just in time for Halloween).

Based on the 1974 film, this riotously funny production follows the brilliant Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (that’s "Fronk-en-steen"), who, after inheriting his family’s castle in Transylvania, tries to distance himself from his infamous grandfather. But with the help of his hunchbacked sidekick Igor ("Eye-gore"), the alluring lab assistant Inga, and the mysterious housekeeper Frau Blücher, Frederick soon finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors, attempting to create a creature of his own.

This electrifying stage show features a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks himself. Audience members will find themselves tapping their toes and laughing out loud to unforgettable musical numbers, including "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend," and the classic "Puttin’ on the Ritz."

"We are incredibly excited to bring the hilarious genius of Mel Brooks to our stage," said Mark A Stutz, the show’s director. "This show is a love letter to the zany antics of the original film, with all the panache and flair of a classic Broadway musical. It’s the perfect recipe for a night of pure, unabashed musical comedy."

The production stars Andrew Galindez as the bright young Dr. Frankenstein, Joey Troiano as his faithful companion Igor, and Alyssa Steiner as the lovely lab assistant Inga. Rebecca McCall stars as Frederick’s madcap society girlfriend, Elizabeth Benning, and Tammy McKillip as the always present housekeeper, Frau Blücher (Cue the horses).

The Monster himself will be portrayed by Andrew Maldonado.

Rounding out the supporting cast is Shelby Shaffer as Inspector Hans Kemp, Richard Director as Victor von Frankenstein, and Gary Boyer as Harold the Hermit. The ensemble features Dale Beltzer, Jack Warnke, Jen Rarick, Alexandra Brito-Amador, Maricel Wheatley, Hannah Zarate, Caitlin McDermott, Cara Padilla Jensen, Evan Hegar, Jordan Joseph, Carter Sachse, Mya Detweiler, Sara Woodring, and Stephen Simone.

Guiding the production along with Stutz are Stage Manager Corinne Philbin, Choreographer Meg Pierre, Musical Director Amanda Haag, Assistant to the Director Sarah J. Davis, Costumer Todd Burkel, Set/Lighting Designer Brett Oliveira, Assistant Stage Manager Olivia Howe, Diction Coach Jacob Masters, and Intimacy Coordinator Jessica Barkl-Lopez.
