(Lehigh Valley) Selkie Theatre is once again presenting their popular concert reading of Dylan Thomas's magical holiday tale, A Childs Christmas in Wales, directed by George B. Miller.A Child's Christmas In Wales is one of poet Dylan Thomas's best known works; a radio prose poem recorded almost by chance that has become a beloved Christmas classic. Set in the wintry Welsh countryside of the poet's youth, it vividly evokes the sights, smells, and sounds of a long-ago Christmas."I can never remember whether it snowed for six days and six nights when I was twelve or twelve days and twelve nights when I was six." - Dylan ThomasWhen first performed at the historic Anam Cara Farm (c. 1794) in 2013, Selkie's "A Child's Christmas in Wales" was a memorable, sold-out success. This year, Selkie's intimate salon-style performance will be offered in two more unique, historic Valley venues.
The performance, on Sunday, December 27 at 3pm, takes place in the beautiful Unitarian Universalist Church in historic Bethlehem, a building dating back to the mid-1800's. Selkie's performance is followed by a candle-lit and music-filled holiday Wassail & Dessert reception."The language is enchanting and the poetry shines with an unearthly radiance." – The NY Times on A Child's Christmas in Wales.George Miller is joined onstage by actors Pat Kelly, Kate Scuffle, and Marcy Hake Repp. The Reception Sponsor is Donegal Square / Red Stag Pub in Bethlehem.
